We are still trying to figure out how to teach our children about the Bible and the Christian faith. But one thing I knew: they would be introduced to this gem early on. Our oldest kids, who are only 4 and 2, love it and sing it often. I thought I would pass it along for anyone who hasn’t had the chance to see it. The 20-year-old me would have hated it and slapped me in the face for it.
Ha. I do like this, very much, but I also think it’s very important to recognize this is not the whole picture. Yes, God is absolutely Love; yes, God is absolutely Good. However, the idea of God’s love turning a little girl’s vegetables into candy is somewhat lacking. God’s goodness and love do not mean that we are not still sinful, broken people; the evils of the world come from us, not from a lack of God. Still, a good video and a cute song.
I always wish I could leave out the vegetable scene!
I love the part where the God who turns sorrows to Joy is illustrated using vegetables!
It is weird for me to imagine a 20-year old you. Me being 21 and all.
I gotta say it. Where are the Jews? I know we’re less than 1% of the planet, but Paul would be disappointed. Romans 1:16
God so loved the world that he gave!
I have to say that I am a bit disappointed. The song is titled “God is Not a White Man” yet every person in the video looks white. This undermines the point they are trying to make.
What a good observation, never noticed that before.
It’s awful but…when I watch the video, all I can think of is how many people will be made/are made angry by the “God is Love” refrain, when what they have been shown is God’s love.
i think everyone here is missing the main point of contention in this video. sure, maybe God COULD love RoboCop, but RoboCop on a Segway?!
candy peas-and-carrots for everyone! good night!
